Individual Therapy

Some of what brings people to therapy isn’t a symptom to be resolved so much as a pattern to be understood — the recurring shape of a life, a relationship to meaning that’s shifted, or material that sits below conscious reach until it’s given room.

This is a psychodynamic and existential space. Rather than working from a fixed protocol, sessions are exploratory — oriented toward what’s actually present for you, session to session, and toward the longer patterns that repeat across relationships, decisions, and life stages.

What this suits

  • Recurring relational or life patterns that resist simple explanation
  • Questions of meaning, direction, identity, or mortality that don’t have a quick answer
  • A wish to understand why something keeps happening, not just to stop it happening
  • Adults who’ve done other forms of therapy and want to go further, or deeper, or somewhere less structured

Format & fees

Telehealth, video or phone. Frequency and length of work are discussed directly rather than pre-set — some people are here for a defined period around a specific question, others for longer-term exploratory work.

$180 per session. A Medicare rebate of $101.55 per session is available with a current Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP (or a referral from a psychiatrist) — this applies regardless of therapeutic approach, so psychodynamic and existential work is rebateable on the same basis as any other modality. Ask your GP about a Mental Health Treatment Plan before your first session if you’d like to check your eligibility, or get in touch and we can talk through it.

Ready to start? Send a referral request below, or email david@etherapyaustralia.org directly. After you submit, we’ll send a short intake form by email — once that’s completed, we’ll be in touch to arrange your first session.

If what you’re looking for involves a medical, neurological, or psychiatric condition, or NDIS/ICWA-funded support, see Complex Clinical Support — it may be a better fit.
